Historie

Breckenridge Distillery is the world's highest distillery. Founded in 2008, they are best known for their blended bourbon whiskey, a high-rye mash American style. Breckenridge Bourbon is one of the most award-winning craft bourbons in the USA. The distillery has been named 3x Icons of Whisky and 10x winner of Best American Blended at the World Whiskies Awards by Whisky Magazine and 4x winner of Colorado Distillery of the Year at the New York International Spirits Competition. Port Cask Finish was named the world's best finished bourbon at the World Whiskies Awards in 2024; High Proof was named the world's best blended whiskey and Gin as the world's best compound gin at the World Gin Awards. The whiskies have won 6 Double Gold medals at the SF World Spirits Competition. Since 2008 and the launch of their first vodka and bourbon three years later, they have become an award-winning producer. Quality is, according to Nolt, the only thing that matters.

Produktion/Fremstilling

The water comes from Rocky Mountain snowmelt and provides mineral-infused perfection to the distillate. Bourbons are a high-rye mash American style and are aged for at least three years in new, charred American oak barrels. The distillery emphasizes a philosophy of quality and heritage in its production.

Produkter/Whisky-serien

Breckenridge Bourbon – a blended bourbon whiskey with a high grain content; a deep honey-gold color and aromas of butterscotch, candied orange, and apple; on the palate, cacao, brown sugar, vanilla, and white pepper. Breckenridge Port Cask Finish – bourbon finished in port wine casks. Breckenridge Rum Cask Finish – bourbon that takes on flavors from its own Colorado rum casks with notes of candied apple and cinnamon, as well as dark chocolate and allspice. Breckenridge Whiskey PX Cask Finish – finished in PX sherry casks with notes of orange marmalade, fig compote, and licorice. Broncos Single Barrel Bourbon – aroma of warm molasses and golden honey; the palate offers honey-sweetness, oak, and a spicy finish with cinnamon. Breckenridge Reserve Blend – an extended line of blended whiskies.

Besøg/Oplevelser

The distillery offers tours of the production facility (Behind-the-Scenes Tours – free), as well as tastings in the Retail Shop or Main Street Tasting Room. Blending Lab with head distillers (free), Cocktail Workshop with Liquid Chef Billie Keithley (free) and Bottle Your Own Whiskey (55 USD) are available. Tastings are available free or as upgraded experiences. Sign-up takes place in the Distillery Retail Shop. There are also events such as Dad Fest featuring timed activities and experiences.
