Historie
Boundary Oak Distillery sits in the heart of central Kentucky, surrounded by forests, waterfalls and natural limestone springs. The land was clearly intended to be home to one of Kentucky's great bourbon distilleries, but Prohibition deprived bourbon enthusiasts of the opportunity for nearly a century. The Goodin brothers and family have roots in Kentucky for over 200 years, and Brent's ancestor Samuel Goodin founded Goodin Fort near Old Boston, which later became Bardstown, the bourbon capital of the world. After months of research, paperwork, and an investment of nearly $1 million, Boundary Oak Distillery received its license, and the first legal production of liqueur in Hardin County since Prohibition took place on October 18, 2013. Today the distillery sits at 2000 Boundary Oak Drive in Radcliff, Kentucky.
Produktion / Fremstilling
The distillery focuses on bourbon and a range of related products as well as special finishes. Some of the finishing techniques include: - Mizunara: Bourbon aged in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, which give a unique character with coconut, spices and a sandalwood finish with soft fruit notes. - Amburana: A finely finished bourbon similar to Brazilian oak; warm spices and vanilla with an exotic finish. - Wine Barrel Bourbon: Finishing in wine barrels as part of the bourbon base; notes of caramel and fruit with red berries and licorice-like tannins. - Patton Armored Diesel: Cane Spirit finished in American oak; notes of butterscotch and distinct oak refinement. - 101 Proof Moonshine and 121 Proof Moonshine: Cane Spirit, unaged and strong with a pronounced corn and maize aroma, 100% cane sugar. - Cinnful 69: Cinnamon Cane Spirit, handcrafted and 69 proof; warm cinnamon notes blended with vanilla and caramel. - Big Red 1: Bourbon with smoky American oak tones and caramel/chocolate-like undertones. - Lincoln, St. Michael, St. George (Dragonslayer), War Eagle, My Old Kentucky Home and Patton Bourbon: Straight Bourbon Whiskey editions with notes of corn, honey, spicy warmth and oak; some accompanied by special seasonal / special editions (e.g., St. Michael Special Edition). - Lavender Whiskey (St. Luke): Lavender notes combined with vanilla and dried fruits. - Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Wine Blend: wine-inspired notes and finishes in bourbon barrels.
