History

Belmont Farm Distillery is located in Culpeper, Virginia. According to the site, our ancestors have been involved in whiskey production in the mountains of Virginia for more than four centuries, and in the last 30 years whiskey has been available to everyone. Through the slogan GRAIN TO GLASS PERFECTION, a tradition of craftsmanship and a clean, natural taste is emphasized.

Tim Smith and Chuck Miller

Tim Smith's Climax Moonshine was born out of the friendship between Tim Smith and Chuck Miller. Tim attended as a guest at Moonshiners Jamboree in Chatham in 1999, and they quickly found a shared passion, which led to Tim bringing his famous moonshine recipe to the world. Belmont Farm Distillery produces Climax Moonshine, and Tim still visits the farm to talk about moonshine and the good old days. Discovery Channel's Moonshiners movement gave the story further attention, which led to Climax Moonshine being officially marketed in the USA and abroad. Belmont Farm Distillery today produces large quantities of Climax products, and Tim still finds time to visit the farm.

Products and tradition

LibertY Lightning is also produced, which is a corn whiskey aged in bourbon barrels, and is set to be released in limited quantities in the gift shop in 2026. Belmont Farm Distillery emphasizes a long tradition of producing whiskey and sharing it with guests and fans.
