History
Appalachian Heritage Distillery sits directly on the Appalachian Trail in Damascus and produces pure spirits. Our generations-based family knowledge stems from a region deeply rooted in cultural tradition. The unique design of our elegant and productive pot still creates a multi-distilled spirit with a smooth and robust flavor, perfect for any gathering.
AWARD WINNING VODKA
Our history begins in 1919 with Grandpa Bud Justus and his passion for creating quality spirits. Bud had a shed behind the house, and a copper vessel in the smokehouse was not for smoking meat. Bud had a reputation as an honorable secret distiller and customers came from three states along the Tug River: West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia. Four generations later Bud's legacy lives on. Although recipes and equipment may have changed, the commitment to quality remains. Appalachian Heritage Distillery strives to capture the spirit of tradition in spirits. Grounded in hard work and our heartfelt appreciation of the good life, we see bright times for the distillery and Damascus, a town where individuality and community go hand in hand.
