History

Adirondack Distilling Company was founded with a passion for quality, tradition, and a close connection to the local community. Master distiller Jordan Karp left his career as a political consultant in Boston and New York City to collaborate with Dr. Bruce Elwell and attorney Steve Cox. Together they became part of a movement in Central New York focused on re-connecting with local food and drink. There is talk of a renaissance of upstate culture and the demand for local products. Jordan's statement emphasizes that what is made with care by people who live here says something. Adirondack Distilling incorporates all-local ingredients, from corn grown in the area to water from the Adirondack Mountains and uses Herkimer diamonds for filtration. "This is handmade from start to finish," says Bruce. "It's something we can be proud of, and it puts us in a unique position." Adirondack’s state-of-the-art German distillation equipment produces our flagship vodka, gin, white whisky, and Central New York's first legal bourbon. Each bottle gives our craft, their community, and Central New York something to be proud of. We welcome tours Monday to Saturday by appointment. Adirondack products are available at Brew Central and throughout the state of New York. Our approach is based on local ingredients, exceptional spirits, and pride in the artisanal process.

Production/Manufacturing

Adirondack Distilling uses state-of-the-art German distillation equipment for vodka, gin, white whisky, and bourbon. Production rests on locally sourced corn and water from the Adirondack region and is filtered through Herkimer diamonds for extra purity. The vodka undergoes cold-filtration over Herkimer diamonds for an exceptionally smooth finish. White Whisky is produced as a lightly aged spirit, aged in uncharred White American Oak casks to preserve the pure corn flavor with light oak notes. According to the site, the entire process "from milling corn to final aging in charred oak casks" is carefully controlled. Adirondack’s flagship whisky, Adirondack Whisky, is part of the local production and has received international recognition. The spirits description includes that all products are naturally gluten-free due to locally sourced corn and water from the Adirondacks.
