History

Toledo Spirits Co. was founded in 2013 and has since focused on creating premium spirits that capture the essence of the region and celebrate the craft of distilling. The house is located in a historic warehouse on the banks of the Maumee River, where the distillery and Bellwether, our craft cocktail bar, have become destinations for visitors seeking an authentic and engaging craft-spirit experience. Our award-winning spirits range from the Heart of Vodka series to the Lowertown Bourbon and King & Dane Rum series, and they are crafted with care, especially for cocktails.

Production and Approach

We believe in the art of craftsmanship in distilling, and our team of dedicated professionals works tirelessly to produce spirits of the highest quality. Our approach is based on source transparency, and we are proud to introduce the farmers behind our grains, fruits, and botanicals. By building strong relationships with our suppliers and using locally sourced ingredients, we can create exceptional spirits that capture the unique character of our region. We also strive for social responsibility and environmental initiatives – minimizing waste, conserving resources, and reducing our carbon footprint, while supporting local organizations in the arts, education, and sustainable farming.

The Whiskey Series

• Vistula American Single Malt Whiskey – Aged for more than four years in bourbon and rye barrels, finished in Pinot Noir barrels. Tasting notes: caramelized sugar, spice and herbal sweetness with dark roasted notes. 90 Proof • 750 ml
• Lowertown Ninety-Nine Straight Bourbon Whiskey – 99 proof, hand-selected high-rye bourbon, finished in Zinfandel casks.
• Lowertown Black Bourbon – 99 proof, a bourbon aged in heavily charred oak and rye, finished in a New American Oak cask for more than three years.
• Whiskey Tango Foxtrot – Experimental small-batch whiskey, produced in small batches and available seasonally and only at the distillery. Tasting notes vary from batch to batch.

Tours and Experiences

Toledo Spirits offers distillery tours, Bellwether cocktail bar, private events, as well as classes and workshops. There are distillery tours focusing on processes and equipment, along with the opportunity for spirit tastings. Private events and various experiences in our spaces and facilities are also offered.

Donations

Toledo Spirits has supported hundreds of Toledo-area charitable causes and organizations since 2013. Donations are made to registered 501(c) organizations and require that the organization has a valid, approved registration document. Alcohol donations for events are not allowed, and a valid liquor permit is required for events involving alcohol. Requests should be submitted at least 8 weeks in advance; donations are made to organizations that benefit the Toledo community and those in need, particularly in the arts, education, and sustainable farming.
