Historie
Old Pogue traces its origins to H.E. Pogue Distillery, established in 1876 as Kentucky Registered Distillery No.3 in Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky. The region was known for producing a mild bourbon thanks to corn and limestone water. The Pogues continue today to use the original Pogue recipes under a time- and form-regulated fixed formula, and their current base is located on the same plot of land in Maysville where they produce small batches of bourbon and rye spirits.
The longer version describes how, after the Revolution took hold, settlers arrived at the Ohio River and Limestone Landing (later Maysville) in 1792, and the whiskey in the area became known as Old Bourbon County Whisky. After Prohibition and a series of subsequent events, the distillery was sold to Rose of Chicago in 1935, and it was not until 18 years later that operations reopened. Today, the fifth and sixth generations of Pogues are at the helm, offering super-premium handcrafted whiskies based on the original Pogue recipes, without compromising on quality.
Produktion/Fremstilling
The Old Pogue Distillery today produces super-premium handcrafted whiskeys based on the original Pogue recipes in a fixed formula. There are indications of small-batch production methods with bourbon and rye whiskeys. The current operation is located on the same property in Maysville, and they use the area\'s local grain resources and water from the region. The current distillers are Paul Pogue and John Pogue (fifth and sixth generations), who produce whiskeys using the original building blocks of ingredients and methods found in their ancestors\' recipes.
