Historie

The Better Man Distilling Co. is Long Island's first urban craft distillery and is located in Patchogue Village. The company was founded by Anthony Gruppuso, who over the years read up on distilling, ordered special bottles from abroad and reviewed his own negronis. He wanted to go all the way from grain to glass with high quality and to crank up the still and create his own fire water, Mother Genever, eau-de-vie and kill-me-quick. The journey from a dream to the still was long and difficult, but the team held fast and kept going. We are a group of dreamers – people who want as much as possible out of life, continually seeking to become better and to contribute to the world around us. We want to share our passion and spread our mantra: not only through spirits, but through community events, love of neighbors and meetings with new friends. Long Island's first urban craft distillery is located in Patchogue and is a destination for craft spirits and education.

Produkter / Whisky-serien

• Bourbon Whisky: A bourbon made with a mash bill of 70% NYS Red Flint Corn & VK Flint Corn blend, 10% rye and 20% malted barley; aged in new, charred barrels and influenced by the sea air. Aging details often appear as Distiller's Cut; aged about 2 years to 3 years. Notes include chocolate, espresso, vanilla and caramels.
• Empire Rye: A rye whiskey that follows NY State standard with about 75% NYS rye and 25% malted grains; aged by the coast and gaining a light salinity. Batch releases show age around 2 years + and a proof around 95.4–95.6. Empire Rye is described as a New York-style and produced at a single NYS distillery. Distiller's Cut releases with batch numbers 001 and 002 are mentioned.

Besøg og Oplevelser

Visit the distillery for experiences such as Tour & Tasting with Cocktail (1 hour) and American Whiskey Experience (1 hour). Both offerings are available via the booking pages. Private experiences are also available on request. The tasting room is mid-century modern with an outdoor patio, dog-friendly and comfortable surroundings. Distillery Experiences and Private Events provide opportunities for tailored solutions.
