History
John and Snezhi left their homeland in Europe and found each other in the USA. They settled in Winston, Montana at the foot of the Elkhorn Mountains overlooking Canyon Ferry Lake, and founded Stonehouse Distillery to craft small-batch rum and whiskey. Snezhi’s family recipes were perfected in Bulgaria, where the Slivovitz tradition has been passed down through generations. John came from Germany, where the family worked with clear grain spirits. They use local ingredients and have focused on Winston Wheat Whiskey, as well as other varieties such as Rye and Sweet Corn Whiskey. In 2012 they traveled to Europe to explore distilling techniques with monks in Bulgaria, various distilleries in Germany, and Glendronach Distillery in Scotland.
The header of the page also mentions Montana Huckleberry Whiskey as part of the range.
Production
Craft small-batch distillery: Stonehouse Distillery produces handmade spirits and emphasizes craftsmanship and tradition throughout the process. The text mentions the use of our handmade copper-pot still from Portugal and the journey from grain to glass as a celebration of heritage and quality. It also notes that a neighbor grows some of the finest wheat, leading to Winston Wheat Whiskey, and that rye and malted barley are used to add variation to the range (such as Sweet Corn Whiskey, Rye, and Wheat Whiskey). In 2012 they traveled to Europe to learn from monks and other distilleries, reflecting a continual pursuit of traditional distilling methods.
