Historie

Square One Brewery & Distillery is housed in a beautifully restored historic building in Lafayette Square, St. Louis, MO, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was erected by Christopher Schumacher as a tavern in 1883 at the corner of 18th and Park. It was taken over in the early 1900s by Anheuser Busch and operated as a Tied House with AB products, and had both tavern and a dance hall. During Prohibition it operated as a soda production facility, before returning to tavern and restaurant in 1934. The building was later sold on and suffered a major fire in June 2004. The extensive renovation by Steve Neukomm led to a revival of Square One as a place for unique dining and drinks.

Opening hours (Kitchen): - Monday–Thursday 11:00–21:00 - Friday 11:00–22:00 - Saturday 10:00–13:00 and 13:30–22:00 - Sunday 10:00–14:00 and 14:30–20:00 The bar is open one hour longer than the kitchen.

Private events: In our party room you can host private events for up to 48 people for a seated lunch or dinner, and up to 60 for a cocktail edition. There is a private restroom and a balcony overlooking the courtyard. We offer different types of arrangements, including late seated meals with a limited menu, appetizer boards and desserts, plus prix fixe menus and the possibility for beer/wine/spirit pairings.

Events: The venue hosts events such as banquets and catering as well as special occasions (for example charity events and Valentine’s Day).
