History
Six & Twenty Distillery is located in West Greenville, South Carolina. The name Six & Twenty is carried by a beautiful love story about a Choctaw woman, Isaqueena, an English merchant, and a bold escape. According to the story, Isaqueena rode across the land to save her beloved from a Cherokee attack, and hence the name Six & Twenty is a tribute to this legend. The distillery describes its original location as part of the land where the story took place, and they promise a passionate effort to create the best local spirits, handmade with heart and soul. Their message of being driven by 'a labor of love' is reflected in a reference to carefully supervised and gently cared-for batches, barrels, and bottles.
Six & Twenty also presents itself as a place where there is a culture of local craftsmanship, and where they blend grain and glass through a grain-to-glass approach.
Production
The distillery follows a grain-to-glass approach with mash, fermentation, distillation, aging, and bottling on site. They highlight the use of locally grown grain and their own designed Artisan Still, which underpins their spirits production. They describe themselves as a craft-destination where you mash, ferment, distill, age, and bottle – all under one roof. Their Still House and Cocktail Bar form a central part of the experience, and they communicate an ambition to be South Carolina’s premier craft distillery.
