History

Family-owned and operated at Hidden Pond Farm in Monroeville, NJ. The idea started as a conversation about a campfire on one of our family camping trips. Two and a half years later, the dream became reality and Pine Tavern Distillery was born. The names reference the local area: Muddy Run Jersey Style Spirits are named after the brook that runs through the farm, while Fenwick's New Salem Spirits are named after Salem, NJ's founder John Fenwick.

Production / Manufacturing

Muddy Run Jersey Style Spirits are produced in small batches and are handcrafted with primarily local ingredients – most come from our own farm. Fenwick's New Salem Spirits are distilled in Kentucky and then stored and bottled at Pine Tavern Distillery in New Jersey. The distillery strives to create craft spirits that are bold, smooth, and unique.

Pine Tavern Distillery is behind two notable series: - Muddy Run Jersey Style Spirits – a range of handcrafted spirits produced in small batches using local ingredients (many from the family farm). - Fenwick's New Salem Spirits – includes Fenwick's New Salem Rye and Fenwick's New Salem Bourbon, which are the whiskies in their portfolio. Fenwick's New Salem Spirits are distilled in Kentucky and stored and bottled at Pine Tavern Distillery.

On the Cigars page, The Cigar Bar Guys are mentioned, who are onsite on most Friday evenings (weather permitting) and are also available for private events. The distillery location highlights a combination of guided tours with tastings and cocktails as part of the experience.

Philosophy

"From our barn to your glass" – the distillery is family-owned and operated and emphasizes keeping work local and within the community. They work closely with local businesses and share Salem County's history through back-label notes on their Fenwick's New Salem bottles. A portion of the proceeds supports historical associations in the area: $0.50 from the sale of each Fenwick's New Salem Rye and Fenwick's New Salem Bourbon is donated to the Salem County Historical Society. The distillery aims to convey and share local history and support local community actors.
