About the Distillery
Patio29 is a California craft distillery producing a wide range of American-inspired spirits. On the shelf you’ll find handmade straight rye and straight bourbon, a blended whiskey lineup, and Harmon’s Hot Pix flavored whiskeys. The distillery also produces gin, vodka, rum, and a labor-intensive grappa. There is an active tasting room and shop with set hours, food service at selected times, and a weekly happy hour.
Ingredients and Production
The production combines house-made new-make spirits with sourced grain spirits to achieve specific profiles. Several of the whiskey releases are double-distilled, and mash bills documented in the product texts include primarily rye, barley and locally sourced corn for rye, as well as yellow corn, rye, wheat and barley for bourbon. Blended products are assembled from selected barrels from other producers supplemented with a smaller portion of house-made 'white dog'. Grappa is produced by a labor-intensive steam distillation of fresh pomace from local winemakers. The overall impression is an approach that prioritizes small batches, local ingredients, and both in-house distillation and selective sourcing.
Aging and Barrel Types
Maturation takes place primarily in American oak barrels. Straight rye is aged in new American oak barrels, and the bourbon is aged in charred new American oak barrels until ready for filtration and bottling. For some experiments outside of whiskey, such as barrel-rested gin, used bourbon barrels are employed for up to 12 months to impart color and vanilla/toasted oak.
Whiskies
The range includes both classic, handmade whiskies and more approachable, flavored variants. Core offerings include a straight rye (Buckeye), a straight bourbon (Yolo Brothers), and a blended whiskey lineup (Capital Blend). Alongside these, Harmon’s Hot Pix-flavored whiskeys are produced in variants such as Black Cherry, Cinnamon and Orange. In addition to whiskey, Patio29 also offers gin (including barrel-rested version), vodka, rum and a grappa, as well as membership opportunities in a Private Barrel Club.

The documented flavor trajectories cover several recurring traits: caramel/toffee-like sweetness, pronounced vanilla and toasted oak, as well as a spicy rye character (including clove/rye spice). Several products also mention sweet corn notes and a soft, creamy mouthfeel. This balance of sweetness, oak and spice recurs across both bourbon and rye releases as well as in blended products.
Visiting the Distillery
The tasting room and shop are open Thursday to Sunday with specific food service times. Hours are: Thursday 16:00–20:00 (food 16:00–19:30), Friday 15:00–21:00 (food 16:00–20:00), Saturday 14:00–20:00 (food 14:00–19:00) and Sunday 13:00–17:00 (food 13:00–16:30). Every Friday there is All-Day Happy Hour from 15:00–21:00 with $8 simple drinks and single pours. The shop sells bottles, merchandise and offers Private Barrel Club memberships; special events may cause temporary tasting room closures.
