History

Old Scotland Road Distillery is located in Akron, NY and run by Dean Hyder, Master Distiller. Dean comes from a long line of hard-working entrepreneurs, and his signature handlebar-stache is part of the brand. He was born and raised in Akron and began in 2010 building guitars in his basement, which later evolved into distilling. Old Scotland Road Distillery was propelled forward as Town of Newstead’s first legal distillery, and the official opening took place in late summer 2020 in the middle of a global pandemic. The distillery is Veteran Owned & Operated and located in Akron, NY. The property has been in the Hyder family for three generations. Old Scotland Road blends the working American spirit with the culture and attitude of Buffalo, NY – the city of good neighbors. The motto of craftsmanship and family values permeates the project, and they aim to contribute to the local business and spirits culture.

Production / Manufacturing

Small-batch whisky. Real Flavor. Produced in small handmade batches, where grains from New York are carefully combined to create a truly fine spirit. With a nose, palate, and finish as distinctive as the distiller's signature mustache, the whisky will captivate with every glass. After two weeks of fermentation, a natural heat/cooling cycle, and many hours of distillation, the sweet 90-proof liquid is hand-bottled and poured. We have mastered the art and science of this process.
